System Center 2012 Monitoring Pack for Microsoft Windows Server 2012 Remote Desktop Services

There is a new management pack on the horizon for SCOM 2012. Microsoft Windows Server 2012 Remote Desktop Services MP is based on Remote Desktop Services Management Pack for System Center Operations Manager 2007 which explains why in the guide of the new version SCOM 2007 is requirement even though in the download link it is stated that this MP is only supported in SCOM 2012. So somebody forget to change all references to the previous version of SCOM in the guide.

You can download the MP and the guide from here.

Despite the incorrect references in the guide remember to read it first before importing.

Exam 70-417: Upgrading Your Skills to MCSA Windows Server 2012

Today I’ve passed Exam 70-417: Upgrading Your Skills to MCSA Windows Server 2012 and I’ve became Microsoft Certifies Solution Associate Windows Server 2012. For that exam wasn’t so hard because I am testing Windows Server 2012 from pre-beta stages, but the exam wasn’t so easy also. As described in Microsoft learning site the exam is divided in 3 smaller exams:

  • Exam 70-410: Installing and Configuring Windows Server 2012
  • Exam 70-411: Administering Windows Server 2012
  • Exam 70-412: Configuring Advanced Windows Server 2012 Services

As you can see these smaller exams you can guess how many question the exam has. If you decide to take this exam I suggest to learn the following technologies in Windows Server 2012:

  • Hyper-V
  • IPAM
  • Clusters
  • File Services
  • Active Directory and AD Federation Services
  • Windows Backup
  • Network Policy Server
  • Dynamic Access Control
  • Remote Access

Taking this exam if you eligible to take it will give you MCSA: Windows Server 2012 certificate. This certificate counts as credit towards the following certificates:

  • MCSE: Server Infrastructure
  • MCSE: Desktop Infrastructure

KB: Feature and performance optimization of Hyper-V Replica (HVR) in Windows Server 2012

Microsoft published a very useful article on how we can fine-tune Hyper-V Replica if we face performance problems. I suggest if to try changing these registry keys only if you face some performance problems. If everything is working smoothly better not touch them. The article is located here.
