I have a couple of Orchestrator servers with Web Features role installed on them. I’ve recently added those servers as Infrastructure Servers in VMM 2012 R2 in order to update them from there. After adding them the Orchestrator Web Service on those server stopped working. Today I’ve passed Exam 70-417: Upgrading Your Skills to MCSA Windows Server 2012 and I’ve became Microsoft Certifies Solution Associate Windows Server 2012. For that exam wasn’t so hard because I am testing Windows Server 2012 from pre-beta stages, but the exam wasn’t so easy also. As described in Microsoft learning site the exam is divided in 3 smaller exams:
- Exam 70-410: Installing and Configuring Windows Server 2012
- Exam 70-411: Administering Windows Server 2012
- Exam 70-412: Configuring Advanced Windows Server 2012 Services
As you can see these smaller exams you can guess how many question the exam has. If you decide to take this exam I suggest to learn the following technologies in Windows Server 2012:
- File Services
- Active Directory and AD Federation Services
- Windows Backup
- Network Policy Server
- Dynamic Access Control
- Remote Access
Taking this exam if you eligible to take it will give you MCSA: Windows Server 2012 certificate. This certificate counts as credit towards the following certificates:
- MCSE: Server Infrastructure
- MCSE: Desktop Infrastructure
Microsoft is preparing to strengthen Windows security by allowing only RSA keys that are more or equal of 1024 bits. As SCOM uses 512 bit key for monitoring HP-UX PA-RISC this will break communication between such servers. Read more about the problem and how to implement workarounds here.
This management pack come from the community. Authors of the pack are Raphael Burri, Pete Zerger and Jaime Correia. Basically the MP monitors if certificate will expire in your environment. Changes in this version:
- Corrected a discovery bug that would hit when a server’s locale was non-US and CA certificates were found in the store.
- Fixed some spelling issues in display strings
- Verified OpsMgr 2012 compatibility

Note: Remember this is community MP and Microsoft doesn’t provide support for this MP.
