Since the early releases of Windows Server 2012 and Windows 8 there is a rumor that Microsoft is giving up on service packs for their Operating Systems for Client and Server. This rumor was never confirmed but with the start of the first released cumulative updates for Windows Server 2012 and Windows 8 it was clearly that these two operating systems will not receive service packs like their predecessors. So because of that there was still a change Windows Server 2008 R2 and Windows 7 to receive Service Pack 2. Almost 3 years ago in March 2010 Microsoft announced the release of Service Pack 1 for Windows Server 2008 R2 and Windows 7. Now 3 years later Microsoft is releasing An enterprise hotfix rollup is available for Windows 7 SP1 and Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1. This hotfix rollup contains 90 hotfixes and for me this is clear statement: No more service pack for Operating Systems. An era in Microsoft is ending and new one begins.
