In the Service Pack 1 for System Center 2012 and new feature for Operations Manager will be released call Global Service Monitor (GSM). This feature will allow you to schedule synthetic transactions from geo-distributed locations to monitor availability, performance and reliability of your externally facing web applications. Actually this monitoring will go trough Windows Azure and the data will be send to your SCOM servers. I suspect that this feature will be available only for customers who has Software Assurance. Read more about this feature on SCOM Team blog here.
